happy new year

well happy 2013 to you all !!

2012 wasn’t a bad year for music and business. 2013 I will be easier in regards to music I’m just in two bands at the moment, natural thing which is on form at the moment and will be running itself as its shared now and rubber soul which to be honest is a breeze it runs itself and because of the choice of music and popularity people come to us and book us and the band is so flexible we just accept them and the extra professionalism if were a member down we just do the gig which shows how good of musicians they really are. Top dog is now dumped after two years of hard slog and being messed about I’m afraid they have been underhanded so I’m not going to go to much into but i just have to say i work in a different way probably because I’m more dedicated to the business anyway that won’t last minutes. Ive got a few options I’m going to test for a new blues unit but I’m only after the best can’t be having any half cut musos, messers, pre madonnas, sulkers and all that babble its a waste of my time! i need a good unit with dedicated musicians only. So watch this space got some great ideas for this unit also i want a unit that is diverse and not just banging it out and playing to loud all the time. Im getting down with the delta and some acoustic slide really get into what its all about.

anyway rubber soul are available for pubs, clubs and all your events drop me a line, we are currently creating the website, business cards and we are going in the studio for demos so watch this space, we are the most booked band in this town and are fully enjoying it no cardboard cut outs here!!

Natural thing is also available come and check out one of lancasters finest and longest playing bands, hard hitting action and we have a show now thats not to be missed find us on Facebook or on our website natural-thing.co.uk

I’m getting down with some serious practice and spanning it out between guitar, bass, 12 string, slide and been self teaching harmonica! although i don’t have to worry about that to much i got two top notch harmonica players now!! I’m also practising vocally and been trying some quality new songs

2013 is going to be a great year for music and the natural talent.

new years eve was the best night live with rubber soul at the tavern, best night I’ve had in ages we were booked solid through december come check us out at our tavern jam at scale hall every sunday from 5pm – we have real dedicated musicians who come and jam, we jam skiffle, blues, country, rock and roll, 60’s you name it just people who love music.

also the good thing about the changes is i don’t have to worry about what i write without people thinking its being directed at them! I’m just flowing now no worries, thinking back of the last top dog meeting and explaining myself what a joke and total waste of time ha, good riddance here is wayne ward in 2013 full on now were’s that mother fuckin gibson let me show u all how this is done……

oh one more this people coming up to me saying rubber soul has competition with so called bands round the town, for one i don’t class it as a band if they have backing tracks get a band then come back to me for a competition your a poor excuse for a band what i class as a fukin joke. I have no objection to backing tracks and karaoke if thats what you like enjoy it just don’t compare it with the real deal. ha ha happy 2013

wayne wards website don’t like it then do me a favour and fuck off!! happy 2013!!

top dog ends the new blues unit begins

before i start my blog about top dog splitting up please be aware this is the personal blog of wayne ward if you do not like what i write don’t visit my site, it belongs to me and i write what i please I’ve not had a voice for a year because people get offended by what i say or do, well tough either get about your business or read the paper, the sports good or the sun or the visitor (full of has beens)

yes again I’ve been forced out under hand isn’t the word any how I’m not going to it to much as the band was going nowhere as the organiser it was to much hard work having to have two drummers two bass players all that messing about and no i don’t want to play there and all the bollocks so yes its ended dunno what they are going out as don’t give a shite really!

anyway on a positive side i had already started putting another unit together already but this time not rushing into picking the wrongs guys for the unit, Im going for the cream of the crop and loyal band members as well, I’m looking at commitment and building a team were the band members are as one unit and loyal towards one another. Cant be doing with messers! anyway we are going to be doing some great delta blues right through to some hard hitting R&B, I’ve cherry picked out probably one of the finest blues guitarists I’ve ever played with in my career, mr cliff newby, all round great guy animal blues player, plays with such moderation and blues feeling and just lets say has that sound 😉 I’ve got steven king, now steven is a great blues singer can sing some real down low blues without getting lost in the mix were you don’t know what he is singing, very focused, plus the guy is a amazing harmonica player and all boasts the ability to play sax and play guitar! if you want to here somebody sing like weller you should check steve out he is amazing. I know it would be the great backbone for me on bass but I’m far better playing slide and keeping a chunky rhythm going and some great backing vocals….

all i need now is a monster bass player to drive this and a diverse tight drummer to hold all this together. This is going to be the best blues band in this area so now is your opportunity to join a amazing band nothing will touch it trust me – mail me on info@wayneward.co.uk for details on this amazing blues band.

Finally I have a voice back i can say what i like 🙂 good luck.

music in general

just popped onto the old facefook to post my gigs for the weekend and i can see digs about me because i said keep music live! damn is nobody entitled to a opinion, i really dont see the point in facebook, if you voice your opinion people will try and poke back at you like two weeks later. Ok lets explain:

I love music and entertaining, i must admit i prefer a real band were they people interact and create and make music, you know its kind of more real. I dont like backing tracks and karaoke although i have done them both. I had some good times doing backing tracks, you can still be a bit creative with backing tracks by playing guitar over the top of the tracks and making it more musical. If you see somebody singing to a backing track all night then its just basically a karaoke singer to me.. give them a guitar to play along and then you have a musician performing for you.. get it? ok you can get some good singers who sing to backing tracks… and? to me i cant stand just to see one person singing al night for one it lacks contrast and they aint really doing that much, yes he or she may be a great singer but sometimes ive seen better singers on the karaoke!. Any way if you dont understand from what ive wrote then you should feel free to contact me on my contact form on here its pretty damn simple. As for me making comments that i dont like factor? so what i think the show is a fix and most of the singers are crap and to say i just play in a cover band just made me scream with laughter. I play in three bands one being natural thing who have been writing a lot longer than any other band in this town (22 years)  and also play obscure songs, i play in another band called top dog again who plays obscure songs in there own way which is a great and dynamic band and i play in a covers band called rubber soul playing mainly beatles and rock and roll, i was brought up on the beatles and rock and roll so i fully enjoy playing in this band playing the music i was brought up on, fkin covers bands get a grip. Im glad i dont mingle on facebook anymore, here is one for you at least im not in the little click, im free unleashed and live for music come watch me on guitar ill do some massive over bends and tear the skin of your face while pulling fuck faces playing real music.

The good news all pubs are allowed to have bands back again so we might start seeing some proper music, meanwhile people who do karaoke and backing tracks keep rocking i have no problem with this its just not my preference of music ? i hope you understand -> duh? I would say musicians are a bad little breed but seems even musician wanna bee’s stick there oar in now, get some practice done and try getting up and performing.

I hope this doent upset people but just makes it clear were i stand. Dont spend your time talking about something i said two weeks ago pick up a guitar a bass or put on a backing track, practice the art.

Peace out, Wardster 🙂

top dog demo, my small review …

just listening to top dog demo again trying to find any changes for the final mix down, a great mixture of blues and rock, a nice slow blues with a big sounding kit, big boss man flows in amazingly to a hard hitting canned heat rock tune world in a jug which i compared with the original and its paced perfect,  evil is just one real old blues song brought to life love my slide solo plenty of space and gibson growl here, greatly paced laid back Look on Yonder Wall,  this is bordering over onto a 70’s faces style rock tune, this take makes me happy with the ronnie lane sounding guitar track i fired down! really happy with all the stuff put down nice one lads. Jimmy guitars solos thunder through nicely and the bass is nice and flowing and whole sounding and just flows right through. Dereks vocals are very defined and his howling wolf additions just add more texture to the songs, astounding harmonica solos. Pip mailing really shines through you can tell this guy has been here before with a nice fat stadium hard hitting sound. Everybody who listened to the demo so far, there first words have been god thats tight then followed can i buy one please!!!  Great variation of blues, rock and laid back great quality music. Watch this space for a release and some external reviews. Have to thank mick massively but also the lads as-well for putting in the hard work in to get it 100%. Yes the release is very soon….   check out the preview here -> http://soundcloud.com/top-dog-1/new-album-preview

Top Dog – John O Gaunt – august 13th 2012

Great gig in the John O Gaunt last night, Thanks to everybody that came and enjoyed some hard hitting blues 🙂 A real band with real music cant be beat.

Nick on bass packing some fat punchy lines, check out my orange rig simply the best guitar amp ive used, if you can afford one get one money well spent!

gig at the golden lion

1. Good gig at the golden lion last night, we had richard on drums as our drummer pulled in the week and didnt want to let the place down! we got a one hour rehearsal in at the coop before the gig at the music coop were two things went wrong, number they turned the electric off without any warning which isnt good for the tubes on my amp so im going to suggest they let bands know about this fair enough you pay for time and they chop the electric but who pays for the knackered valves o my tube amp? ok we mentioned you are meant to watch you watch but why do i want to watch that when im rehearsing in a zone? i cant see some kind of indication IE a light that flashes in the room warning you 5 minutes before costing that much money to implement? certainly a lot less than a full set of replacement tubes for my orange amp?… then i gets outside and in the same place ive been parking my car for over 20 years ive got a damn parking ticket? I couldnt see no sign so i went and had a look this morning and there is a sign but on the other side so im going to the council that traffice warden is a wanker and should play by the rules. any way the gig was great! it was looking empty around 8.45 but by 9.15 the place was cooking!! went down a treat. John the landlord came up to us after the first set and set bloody great but can we notch it down just a slight touch which was decent of him well certainly better than the stupid cow in the stonewell tavern who has a full on argument while your performing on the stage but thats another story….. overall great night though. I took the new gibson in that i bought for a G tuned slide guitar and played it in concert instead of the thunderbird, i have to say a great guitar the only thing that lets it down is the single coil pickup which yes its a cost saving guitar but single coil and gibsons just dont go im afraid do im either going to put on a seymour p90 or a seymour humbucker… hard choice. The gibson junior i got sports a p90 and sounds amazing and the thunderbird has humbuckers and sounds amazing but cant figure which is best!! im thinking p90…. have to say im glad i swapped the strat for it as the guitar i once loved was sat in the corner gathering dust, the one i said id never get rid of simply couldnt cut it after i bought the thunderbird and got the gibson bug!!!! anyway great pub the golden lion in lancaster get your assss in and try some of there traditional ales or maybe a hendricks gin if they got some cucumber?……!..
