Here is a quick demo of the new LG R Smart Watch. Featuring IP cam App and the amazing Wunderlist.
Probably the best and most cost effective bit of tech i bought this year is a now tv box! the box was initially 10 pound but they seemed to have added packages like i got a 3 month entertainment pack with it so the box costs 20 quid! – no contract like normal sky and i can add movies package which will cost a tenner a month. Any way its bundled up with loads of sky channels, catch up players for itv, bbc etc thats all cool. the box is simple the remote is simple just rire in you wep key to connect to your wireless and your away!!
Now the extra bit is a simple walk through can add plex client
i got the plex 2.6.9 here
Next, grab your Now TV remote and press the following buttons in order, relatively quickly. If you fail once, just repeat and try again:
Home x3, Up x2, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right
write down the ip address of the box and make a note of it, Next press ‘OK’ on the ‘Enable installer’ option presented and agree to the developer agreement that appears (you have to pretend to read it all, so just hold the down button until its fully scrolled and press ok). You will need to agree one final time on the pop up box and your NowTV box will restart.
Once it’s reloaded and back on the home screen fire up your web browser on your PC and go to the address which was shown to you earlier. If you got it correct, you will be presented with the developer screen. Select browse and select the zip file you downloaded. It should then install and the plex should kick in and you select close and it presents you with a icon on the menu – now as long as you have setup a plex server on your network you should be able to stream music and movies from the plex server .
plex is available here
its available for mac, linux and windows and clients are available for raspberry, android, iphones etc.
I setup a plex account and when i installed it on the android it can see me plex server from outside over mobile network as the server opens a port on the router automatically for you giving you access from outside from your plex clients – also you can add friends so you can share plex servers!
one note i installed rasplex, its very nice but it didnt work right on my raspberry A – so installed raspbmc and the plex plugin and it works flawlessly. Pretty straight forward when you have raspbmc installed.
Yes we have flashplayer-plugin that for me doesnt work and yes we have had alternatives. If your flash player isnt working after a fresh ubuntu 14.10 install then try this link apt://pepperflashplugin-nonfree
Or do a search in software centre or pepper flash plugin
once installed try this link
This should give you your version of flash along with a pretty animated image, along with the ability to play youtube videos and other flash required web based apps…
happy flashing !!
Anyway ive tried different storage solutions and the best seems to be google drive – costs £2 per month for 100 gig which aint bad (other price plans available for more storage) . So i looked at sync software and stumbled across insync at $15 one of payment and i have installed on two computers, my laptop and my home computer. Ive synced my documents, photos and music all in one solution. Some other price plans here – Basically install the deb file by double clicking on it and once the install finishes it asks your google user / pass and start syncing which ever folders you decide to choose. The installer installs another deb if you say you want integration which is very handy as it tells you which folders are fully synced and which folders are syncing! The only thing im waiting for is that it has to sync to a certain folder which can be placed anywhere and id like it to sync to specific folders i specify but i see that is being sorted for next release 🙂
On the android I use Gdrivesync which lets me specify folders and easy to set up as well as using the google drive app which is handy as well, but if your looking for the best file manager that even lets you copy folder back and forth from the droid to google drive try astro file manager this supports google drive and loads of other file storage solutions including drop box – last but not least on the droid try cloud around, you will need the full version to use google cloud which was £1.25! but this will enable you to play the music you put in your google drive, plus this player has the ability to scrobble to last.fm, it was the only cloud player i could find with a scrobbler built in!!
The ttf-mscorefonts-installer package allows for easy installation of the Microsoft True Type Core Fonts for the web.
sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer and accept the EULA, or else if you already have ttf-mscorefonts-installer installed and you didn’t accept the EULA, then uninstall ttf-mscorefonts-installer and reinstall it like this:
sudo dpkg -P ttf-mscorefonts-installer sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
Use the Tab and Enter keys to accept the EULA in the Microsoft TrueType core fonts window that pops up. The terminal will output a new message each time it finishes downloading a new font. Wait a bit until the terminal tells you that it’s finished downloading and installing the Microsoft TrueType core fonts.
