Brother MFC-7440N Antergos / Arch

I just switched to antergos which is a linux system based on arch. The good thing is that its connected to AUR the Arch_User_Repository which opens up the door to a massive load of packages ready to install. Now the brother MFC 7440n printer drivers are based on either deb or rpm installs which of course arch doesnt use. I did install the brother 7420n drivers but the scan was coming out with a pinkish background.. but im thinking that you still could install this driver as long as you dont use brscan4 and if it installs this remove it and use brscan3 this makes the scans correct i found this out in the end! Any way if you want to run the deb insaller which i ended up doing in the end i just used add remove to install the package dpkg – which will install debian packages on the install – now this is said not be used a lot but if you just have something quick that needs installing you can use this but not a permanant solution. After i had installed this package i just proceeded as i did before.

so pull the instal file from here based on the deb version then extract the linuxinstall file and make it executable either by right clicking on it and select executable or chmod +x the file from the terminal. Then run the file with a dot forward slash  >> .sudo /likethis This will then run the full install asking you the model name which is mfc-7440n and just follow it through – i have my printer on the network and i can trigger the scans over the network from simple scan which again you can get from add remove or pacman 🙂

happy scanning and printing 🙂
