well well well one more attempt at blogilo

well well well one more attempt at blogilo!!

i can insert a image!! finally ! i can edit previous blogs with images! well what can i say its a KDE app, i know whats going to happen now.. apt-get install kde-desktop!!!
this blog app has all the featues the blogger needs, insert hyperlinks, images, pick categories, insert tags, disbale comments and trackbacks!!! this is the one ive been looking for thank the lord for blogilo!!
this installs straight from the ubuntu app store with no messing.

scribefire on ubuntu

okay ive had no choice but to swicth to scribefire for blogging on linux ive tried them all

they all work but all the linux programs for blogging you simply cant upload a image direcet from the program

you have to uplaod and link, i tried quamana but it java, ugly and crashed half way through a post!

so i still ask the question why use scribefire? when im im a browser i might aswell use the wp-admin

but at least i get to setp multiple blogs in it which makes life easier i suppose

im just not happy with the lck of good blog editors on ubuntu

blogilo looked perfect but it wouldnt work right maybe because its a KDE app on unity hell knows, shame really

linux gaming

ok we finally have steam but take a look here!

deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu quantal-getdeb gamesAdd the repository GPG key, open a terminal window and type:

    wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -

  3. Click the “Install this now” button below the screenshot of the desired game.
  4. If you are using Kubuntu please check bug 476853.
  5. If the application cannot be found, run this command and try again:

    sudo apt-get update

ubuntu evernote

linux users will have noticed that evernote hasn’t released evernote for linux yet they rolled it out on linux and mac osx as per usual oh and on iphone android (which is linux) but no linux version?! crazy.. so we have a few choices..

  • wine and use the windows installer (not likely!)
  • nix note, nice full featured clone version
  • everpad, not a such a clone but ful featured and tied more into to system

evernoteI really dont understand why these apps are not in the app store and having to play about can put some people of as they havent the education to install the packages which is a damn shame, anyway here is were to get the packages

nix note > http://sourceforge.net/projects/nevernote/

To install Everpad all you need to do is run the following commands in terminal:

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nvbn-rm/ppa
  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install everpad

If your a proper linux geek get in the console, look here

Im going with everpad because it just ties into the top bar and i can create a quick note, plus nixnote didnt want to seem to come down fast this time for me to test out.. i have used it before and found it almost similar to the real evernote application.

ubuntu blogging software

moved back onto my ubuntu box and managed to get a application for everything i need infact there is more than enough apps for my every requirement. Ive found one hole > blogging software I tried all the apps available probably the best i found was drivel but drivel was very limited, i found blogilo which looked what i required and even looked like it had the feature to even add a picture! which all the other never the others never even had the option to add a link unless you knew how to code html which everybody doesnt im sure. QTM again looked promising but wouldnt conect and even if it did i can see it has image links again you cant just drop on or upload a image. BlogGTK looks great and the layout was just what i was looking for but again you cant upload a image grrr!

Quamana ubuntu

So ive had to install java and currently running quamana which i used to use on my mac and at least you can upload a image and has all the other features i need so although its not native it does what is required for serious bloggers. If your running ubuntu just go into the app store and run the openKDK runtime i installed version 7, unzip quamana and made the Quamana.sh executable if you dont use a terminal right click on in and properties and tick make executable box, from a terminal you would type chmod +x Quamana.sh then to run type > ./Quamana.sh and your away!!

so overall id say every blogging app for linux is pretty lame if you just want to input text happy days if you want media and pictures then im thinking there is a lack of good support in native blogging apps, i know there are apps that will plug into the browsers but im afraid i just like a native proper application.Tags: bloggtk, quamana, qtm, linux blog program, ubuntu blog gui, wordpress, ubuntu, drivel, blogilo

nexus 4 and 7

nexusesthe iPad 2 was gathering a bit of dust mainly because of the lack of being able to connect external devices such as hardisks and mouse. I sold the iPad off and got myself the nexus 7 32gig with wifi and 3G. I got optional extras leather case with built in keyboard and break out cable for usb devices. Im currently waiting for a small bluetooth mouse which will come in really handy. The hardward quility is amazing and the screen is lovely to look at. The tablet is really responsive and a breeze to setup. When i firs powered it on it asked me a few questions including my google account details which setup sync for my contacts and calendars and notes using google services. I used the google play app to install all my apps that i needed and amazingly only had to pay for one or two! Now the first day i got it i used it for a full day and the battery lasted the full day which i was really happy with. Ive took the device to work with me and used it for general IT work including team viewer to fix remote servers and it works great! I was so happy with the android operating system and how much it has progressed since i last used it a year a so a go i decided to dump the iPhone 4s and get myslef a nexus 4 to match and again got a nice leather case for it and im amazed with the phone, probably the best thing i ever did was loosing the iphone and ipad for the nexus 4 and 7, they are both little gems. Before you get stuck in a apple world give the androids a try you get some lovely features including desktop widgets and loads of other goodies!!!
look out for the nexus or the samsung galaxy devices awesome…
